• Properly inspect an indoor range

• Properly inspect an outdoor range

• Four types of shooting rules and how they apply to the handling and use of firearms

LESSON FOUR (85 min) - Classroom

• Purpose of a range safety briefing

• Conducting a range safety briefing

LESSON FIVE (60 min) - Classroom

• Purpose of having emergency procedures

• Steps to take during an emergency

• Conduct an emergency exercise

LESSON SIX (150 min) - Classroom

• Difference between a stoppage and malfunction

• How to safely take a firearm from a shooter

• How to clear a common stoppage

LESSON SEVEN (90 min) - Classroom

• Pass the NRA’s Range Safety Officer test

• Applying to the NRA for certification  

SPECIAL - For Candidate Instructors Only (90 min) - Classroom

• Overview of Course Material & Curriculum

• Take the NRA’s Range Safety Officer test

NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Training

This course is required by any Range Safety Officer, who wants to be certified to train new RSO's (train the trainer).  Is has the standard NRA Basic Instructor training program (6-hr course) as its pre-requisite (representing the first 5 lessons of this training course).
