Tactical Rifle Training

Introduction

The Tactical Rifle Training course is designed to both establish and improve an experienced shooters skills related to tactical situations involving a Rifle.  The students will be challenged with performing advanced rifle and rifle/handgun shooting drills that will provide them with the understanding of how to utilize the advantages of a medium-powered tactical rifle.

Required Equipment

  • Required:

    • Hearing protection

    • Eye Protection

    • Billed-cap

    • A tactical semi-automatic rifle that is capable of shooting small rifle or pistol caliber ammunition, with a duty-cycle of at least 30 rounds per minute, 200 rounds per hour, and 1000 rounds per day

    • Three magazines capable of at least 10-rounds each for the rifle

    • An attached rifle sling (simple or tactical)

    • Service Revolver or Semi-automatic Handgun

    • Strong-side Hip Holster

    • Two Magazines or Speed-Loaders for the Handgun

    • Ammunition -

      • 200 Rounds of Rifle Ammunition

      • 50 rounds of Handgun Ammunition

  • Optional:

    • Dummy Rounds for both the rifle and handgun

    • Knee and Elbow Pads

    • Canteen or hydration pack

  • Range Safety Rules and Firearm Handling

    • Rifle Loading

    • Holster Draw Practice

    • Rifle shoulder sling

    • Rifle shoulder un-sling

  • Rifle Malfunction Drills -

    • Misfires

    • Stovepipe

    • Empty Reload

    • Tactical Reload

  • Firing from multiple shooting positions -

    • Standing

    • Barricade

    • High-Kneeling

    • Low-kneeling

    • Pone

  • Safety Circle

  • Tactical use of Cover

  • Transition Drills -

    • From Rifle to Handgun

    • From Handgun to Rifle

  • Multiple Targets (by the numbers)

  • Moving while shooting -

    • Forward advance with cover

    • Rearward retreat with cover

    • Lateral Movement

  • Distance Shooting (50 yards)

  • Complete Tactical Rifle Qualification Course of Fire

  • 5-hours on the Range
